Metropole Shopping, Monte-Carlo

Metropole Shopping in Monte-Carlo, with its luxury boutiques, is the staple high-end shopping centre in Monaco, right in the centre of the golden square and a stone-throw away from the Casino and the Café de Paris.
From 2007 to 2010, Shirine Zirak was tasked on several occasions with partial renovations of this shopping centre.
From 2020 to 2023, she was asked, as co-designer in partnership with the Italian agency Piuarch, to supervise additional renovations of Metropole Shopping and ensure architecture compliance. Those renovations touched on both the inside and the outside of the centre.
When it comes to the outside areas of the centre, the renovation impacted the facades, skylights, canopies, green areas surrounding the entrance, signalling, outside walls and floors. It further involved highlighting entrances, reviewing the choice in materials and the lighting strategy, creating a bus stop.
Inside Metropole Shopping, the renovation involved creating lavatories for men and women across two floors, changing all access doors, reviewing walls and ceiling covers, reviewing the choice in materials, updating technical items and interior lighting to match new standards, changing lifts and escalators, reviewing signalling and security aspects…
